Joe and I just got done having a spectacular hike around Sylvan Lake. It was so good to visit the spot in which we will soon be married. It’s all very exciting to think that the next time we will be there will be at the rehearsal before our wedding. Walking around the lake is by far one of the most stunning hikes in North America. The path winds its way between 100+ foot granite rock pillars that are filled with little crystals that shimmer in the afternoon light.
Surrounded by beautiful rock formations on one side and by grassy shores on the other, the lake is the icon of the hike. Joe and I spent 25 minutes walking along the path holding hands. We wandered off the path a few times to scramble up some of rocks for a photo. The forest looked like something out of the Lord of the Rings. Normally Sylvan is very peaceful but on our hike there was an incredibly powerful mountain wind. One that can push you right over. This made it all the more exciting for Joe.
We felt bad for the couple who planned to get married outside that day; needless to say, their wedding was moved inside. Even though Joe and I have taken this hike many times before, we set out this time to get a feel for what it would be like for the average person to hike it. We would love for all of you to be able to take the hike and experience the lake from all directions. Whether you take this hike after the wedding ceremony or on another day during your visit, you will not be disappointed! We would love for all that can take this hike to take it. It’s one of the reasons that we picked this unique spot.
So, as you are packing for the wedding please bring your camera and a pair of tennis shoes, and get ready to experience our epic wedding hike!
