There is no one that Joe and I are more grateful for than our mothers. They have been our number one fans for as long as we can remember. We decided to use our blog to honor them today on Mother’s Day.
Ann – Ever since I was a little girl I remember looking up to my mom. From wearing her high heeled shoes around the house, to playing dress up with her jewelry, she was the woman I wanted to be like. And I’d like to think that now that I’m older I carry many of those qualities I admired so much in her, thanks to her positive influence in my life. Growing up, I played almost every sport, was in the band and orchestra, and did many other extracurricular things. I can’t remember my mom ever missing a single event. She was always there for me, encouraging me and supporting me. From a young age I learned to love the outdoors. She and my dad would take my brother and I snow skiing, hiking, camping, and water skiing. And my mom is still quite the adventurer! In the last couple years she has been rocking climbing with Joe and I and even went skydiving! Just typing all of this makes me so thankful I have a mother who cherishes the outdoors and new experiences. My mom and I have always had a good relationship, but when I got to high school we became even better friends, and our friendship only deepened as I went on to college. She is my best friend, and I always look forward to spending time with her. Have a happy Mother’s Day, mama! I love you so much!
Joe – My mom’s most exuberant quality is that she loves people. Her favorite things to do are all blessings to others. My mom is always off helping someone somewhere. Like literally every day. That’s what she loves to do. If you came over she would be tickled pink to brew some coffee and visit with you. If she’s not the best listener in the world she is definitely in the top ten. And that something on your heart is always safe with her. She will have some kind healing words for whatever situation that you are in. She would love to share with you what God has been teaching her lately. She is by far the most selfless person that I have ever known. I wish that I was just as selfless and loving to others as she is. My mom enjoys spending time with her three energetic grandkids most. In fact, we are currently boxing up the house so that she can move closer to them. She’s excited. They are sure excited and I am exited for them. Just seeing the way that she cares for their young needs inspires me to want to have children of my own. I can’t wait. My mom also loves the Creation. When I was a child she took me on a lot of hikes to some very special places. I wonder if I would be as adventurous today without her. My mom is an extraordinary woman that I am so grateful for.
