Last week Joe and I, along with the Live Offensively team and some of our close friends, spent four days selling t-shirts and ministering to students at Creation music festival. Located in the Middle of Nowhere, Pennsylvania, Creation is the world’s largest Christian music festival, bringing in nearly 80,000 people each year. This is the only festival that we camp at as a team, the days are long, the dust is abundant, and the showers are freezing! Working at Creation definitely takes every bit of energy, and I was absolutely exhausted at the end of each day. However, the fellowship and interaction between the team and those at the festival made it all worth it!
By the time Sunday morning rolled around, we were glad to pack up the van and head west to Illinois to visit Joe’s brother and family. I spent the next three days playing with my new nieces Ida and Ana and my new nephew Emmett, along with getting to know my new sister-in-law Edna. The Fourth of July was filled with swimming, fireworks, campfire songs, and even a ride on an Ultralight! It was a little like sky diving with a huge fan on my back.
Being on tour has been a wonderful way to share our first four weeks of being married together. A lot of people have asked me how married life is, and my answer is always the same. It’s amazing! Even though my married life with Joe isn’t quite like any other marriage I have seen, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love living in a van with my husband and best friends, I love traveling, and I love not knowing exactly when I’ll be next month. It leaves so much room to grow, to enjoy the moment, and it makes me feel amazingly free.
