Joe and I have spent the last two weeks in Colorado Springs. We felt God calling us to move here last April, and so we thought we would test it out.
Joe and I have become great friends with a couple here in the Springs– Todd and Trish. We took them rock climbing this evening at the Garden of the Gods. Although she’s climbed at indoor gyms before, this was Trish’s first time ever climbing outside. After a short hike and a brief conversation with a local climber, we found the perfect route. Joe quickly raced up the bolts. Todd and Trish followed after Joe. They were both climbing at their limits, but I could tell they were enjoying the experience of being in God’s creation in such a beautiful place.
I knew this would be our only climb for the evening, so with a little encouragement from Joe, I decided to tie into the sharp end and lead the pitch. I was a little nervous at first, just because I hadn’t been climbing in a few weeks, but it came so naturally. It was a short route filled with abstract holds. Before I knew it I was at the top and rappelling back down to everyone.
As I looked out at the Colorado Springs skyline on the hike back to the car, I thought to myself with a smile, “I could live here.
