There is no sport in the world quite like canyoneering. Sometimes you climb, other times you swim, every once in a while you squeeze between formations, and often you rappel, all on a mission to explore an ancient slot canyon. The biggest risk when canyoneering is rain. Even if it rains 50 miles away these small slots can fill up quick. Joe and I always check the weather before committing to a slot, but we also always come prepared for the worst. I love the bright colors of the sandstone when the light hits it just right. Some of the walls rise up a 1,000 feet so direct sun light only makes it all the way down to us for a few minutes of the day. When it does it creates an almost heavenly glow. I love it when Joe gets ahead and the only sound is the rushing water echoing off the canyon walls. It’s like being in God’s holy cathedral.
One of the best parts about marrying Joe is that he is constantly dreaming and planning our next trip. I am always so excited to plan it out with him and figure out all of the logistics. I get so excited as each day gets closer. We are heading to Colorado and Wyoming tomorrow to do some climbing with our closest friends. This trip is exactly what my heart needs. It will relieve some of the bridezilla in me and help me to relax and enjoy the wedding. We are only eight days away! Can you believe it? Planning this wedding is a lot like planning one of our expeditions; it’s just way bigger and way more exciting!
I can’t wait to see you all.
